Elevator Modernization at the Infamous MGM Grand – Las Vegas, NV
Eklund's worked in conjunction with Otis Elevator Company as part of the elevator modernization at Las Vegas' infamous MGM Grand. The existing elevator interiors were basic plastic laminate with florescent lighting. The finishes and design were not representative of the existing West Wing lobby or guest room finishes, both of which had suffered from wear and tear.
The new interiors create a synergy with the lobby, and allowed for a developed variation of finishes to bring the colors and design full circle. The current design features a stainless steel lower panel that provides a durable finish for guests and luggage. The upper wall panels create quite a contrast by alternating red tinted glass and laser cut stainless steel #4 over glass. The red tinted glass and the circular laser cut design were inspired by the adjacent MGM West Wing Bar and Lounge finishes.
